PSL asked party members about coalition with PiS and Konfederacja. "Checking moods"

PSL MEP Krzysztof Hetman, asked about surveys that PSL members received, in which they were asked, among other things, about a possible coalition with PiS, told PAP that the surveys are aimed at checking the moods of party members. The fact that we are asking about various non-obvious coalitions does not mean that we want to form such coalitions - he added.
According to information from Polsat News, members of the Polish People's Party throughout Poland received surveys in which they were asked about their assessment of the Coalition on October 15 and the situation after the presidential elections won by Karol Nawrocki. Some of the questions were also supposed to concern a possible alliance of the PSL with PiS and Confederation and the assumption of the position of prime minister by the president of the PSL Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Asked by PAP on Saturday about these reports, Hetman replied that PSL is "the only party that has been regularly conducting surveys among its members for some time now", which is aimed at checking the prevailing moods. He added that he is surprised that such a "professional approach" of the party is perceived by the public as something surprising.
"The fact that we are asking about various non-obvious coalitions does not mean that we want to form such coalitions. The research is aimed at checking moods and how they change over time. Thanks to the fact that we regularly ask people for their opinions, we know perfectly well which way sympathies and antipathies are shifting in the party. No other party in Poland has such knowledge. We ask and will ask about difficult and non-obvious matters. Because this is what effective management of a political formation is all about," he emphasized.
According to the PSL MEP, such actions of the party set new trends and standards. In turn, cyclical studies allow to check "whether manipulations by the media affect the moods of PSL activists". "We proudly state that at the moment the effectiveness of these actions is zero" - he added.
In Hetman's opinion, PSL has been subject to "slander and manipulation" from the media and political rivals for some time now. He cited as an example "persuading public opinion" that PSL activists took Rafał Trzaskowski's (KO) support in the second round of the presidential elections badly or that they sympathize with Grzegorz Braun.
According to the survey conducted – as indicated by the PSL politician – 80% of PSL activists were in favour of "not remaining passive after the first round and supporting some candidate". "A significant majority of PSL members indicated that Rafał Trzaskowski should be supported in the second round" – he added.
Hetman stressed that PSL polls also showed "an unequivocal negative attitude of PSL members towards Grzegorz Braun."
"I would advise all media and politicians who are eager to comment on this survey to be very careful and restrained, because they do not rely on original documents and may come off as unserious," Hetman stressed and did not confirm that the questions the media write about were actually included in the survey.
As TVN24 reported on Saturday, one of the questions in the latest survey was about whether PSL should accept the proposal to form a joint government with PiS and Konfederacja with Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz, if such a proposal were made. The second question was to be: "After the parliamentary elections in 2027, can my colleague imagine a government composed of PSL, PiS and Konfederacja?"
